Feminine Usage of Ares In Catalonia, Spain
Is it possibly from a different source then the name of the god Ares, does anyone know? Perhaps something to do with Catalan Spanish or carry a different meaning? It was on the charts for a few years in Catalonia based on the sites data.

Yes, it is indeed from a different source. It refers to the Marian devotion at the sanctuary of Mare de Déu de les Ares ("Mother of God of the Ares"), which is located on the Catalan mountain pass of Coll d'Ares in the Pyrenees. Here is the sanctuary in question:https://ca.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mare_de_D%C3%A9u_de_les_Ares (in Catalan)Catalan source on the given name: http://forum.socpetit.cat/viewtopic.php?t=16575 (in Catalan)Thank you for asking this question, as I have now submitted this name to the Submitted Names Database, so that in the future, people will no longer have to wonder about this. :)
