Behind the Name: Message: "Damian"

I have always loved this name. I have, however, heard and read various accounts (this site included) both online and with people face to face, that it is associated in some way with the devil. I have found no biblical accounts as such.

Is anyone aware of the true meaning of this name? Does it really have anything to do with the devil, and where/when/why did this association originate?
