Is Amaya not popular in the U.K?

My cousin's name is Amaya , and she says nobody else she knows has it, and she lives in London.
I personally have met a lot of Amaya's here in the U.S, so I was surprised.
Any info?

Amaya is definitely an unusual name in the UK. I've never met one nor heard of any

Why your friend hasn't met very many Amaya's but you have:

Select "by times used" to see how many babies were named Amaya in any give year.

As for why the name is more popular in the US vs the UK, I'm not sure, likley just because the are a lot more people in the US and the naming styles/ traditions are different. There is also a larger population of hispanics in the US.
