Leia
Does anyone know for sure how George Lucas created Leia?On this site it says that he based it on Leah but I don't really think so as I never heard him say this. I heard that it was based on the Greek word for "princess" which was "vasileia" or something (I can't remember the exact word).Any ideas? Did he ever say anything in an interview? I also wonder where he got the idea for Padmé and Anakin.

The Greek word for “princess” is πριγκίπισσα (prinkipissa), not “vasileia”. I think you’re confusing it with the Greek word for “queen”, which is βασίλισσα (vasilissa). It’s much more likely that he just used the Biblical Greek form of Leah.I think Padmé is probably a French-style variation of Padma, and Anakin is based off of Ken Annakin’s surname.

Wait, actually: “vasileia” DOES coincide with the Greek word for “kingship/reign”, which is βασιλεία (vasileia). So, you could be partially right.

Lucas has stated that he didn't name Anakin after his friend. Which is kind of weird but I guess there must be another source. Thanks for your reply!
