How do your pronounce Luba and is it the same as Lyuba?TIAEleanor

Well, as far as I know, Lyuba or Luba or Ljuba is a russian name, a short form of Lyubov' or Lubov' (write whatever you like). The stress is on the first syllable and 'L' is soft.Katerina

There's a Congolese tribe (and language, I think) called the Luba and then it's pronounced without the Y, as LOO ba. But I've never encountered it as a given name.
