name
Hello, new to this and was browsing. I am looking for a unique and different name. I came across many, but one popped out at me, the name Array. If anyone can give me a meaning and origin, I would really appreciate it. Thanks if you can help.

Have you looked up the meaning of your own name? For the record, opinions should be posted on the opinions board and done so without trying to insult others. Besides you shouldn't waste time on a message board like BTN, weren't you on your way out to buy some shaving cream?

Enough with the insults, thanks . . ."Chrisell" is a screen name. It's a combination of Christine and Ellen, my first and middle names. I coined it because I needed an 8-letter username back in the late 90s, and it's been useful as a username ever since. There are, however, a couple of real Chrisells around.I think Amy Rae is a rather pretty name, and I'm sure Amy Rae's mother thinks so too.

As Chrisell mentioned, "array" is a word, and not a word generally used as a name. If you found the name via this site, though, I suspect it's mostly my fault. ;) In which case, that's technically not the origin of Array. It's a combination of my first and middle names. I'm an Amy Rae, which turned into A-Rae and eventually Array over a period of several years.I'm not sure if I'd advocate it as a real name or not, but I must admit that I do have a certain fondness for the moniker. :)Array

Well thank you all for your input, however I would never call a child that. I was thinking of using the name/WORD on a DONKEY!!!

www.answers.com/arrayArray is a WORD, not a name.

Well.It is the nickname of someone on the board. However, I concur - it's too much of a word to ever be used on an actual human child.

Lol . . .Online nicks aren't names. I'm sure she got the idea from our Array, but she didn't say so.

I think she's just using this message board as an excuse to make immature insults. I'd just ignore it, at this point.

Um...Excuse me?First, I wouldn't insult Array - I speak to her reguarly on AIM. I've never had a disagreement with her, nor would I ever insult her.I was stating merely that the name was used as a nickname here - which may have lead Jill to believe that it was an actual name. Array isn't a commonly used word.

I think the comment refers to Jill, not you.
