I've been able to find out that Evinrude was the surname of a Norwegian inventor (by the looks of things he invented outboard motors) and is now most widely recognised as a boat brand name. So it's probably a surname being used as a male first name. I wasn't able to find out anything else, though - maybe someone who knows a Scandinavian language can help.
