Re: Laken
Laken was originally a surname, a spelling variation of Lakin. Lakin can either be an English surname with the same derivation as Larkin (diminutive of Lawrence), or a Yiddish surname ultimately derived from Leyke, a form of Leah. Though it is a unisex name, it has been predominantly female in the USA ever since the television soap opera Santa Barbara featured a female character called Laken Lockridge between 1984 and 1991:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086793/fullcredits
