Hi glaucous,

The Icelandic pronunciation is EY-R (EY as in 'grey' and a rolled R)

The Norwegian pronunciation is EYE-R (EYE as in 'eye' and a rolled or a French/German/Danish R, depending on the dialect)

Well, Eirian is IE-ree-an (ie = eye), so I'm fairly sure Eir is IER.
