I don't know for certain, but I would suspect that it has to do with worship or veneration of ancestors - "ancestor's descendant" could be taken to mean "person having ancestors". ie, a child who could, by extension, be proud of having ancestors and knowing about them.
Just a guess but it makes sense to me!
