Hellen was the name of a male figure in Greek myth, the patriarch of the Hellene people and originator of the adjective "Hellenic". See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hellen.
Helenus was also a son of Priam and Hecuba of Troy, and brother of (among many, many others) Hector, Paris, Cassandra, and Polyxena. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helenus.
However Chrisell's explanation is the most likely one in your case, I would think.
