From what I know about indians then they do not at all have the same language. So if you could perhaps find out in which tribe this name is used then it would probably get a little easier for us to help you.

It would help if you got even a vague idea about which tribe.
There were around 500 different languages at the time Columbus arrived and many within the same area were more different than Chinese and Italian (or Greek and Estonian).
If it's from Ho-chungra, Menomonee, Fox , Snake, Oneida or Lac de Flambeau, I might be able to help, otherwise, I can't ask any of the professors I know about the question. Sorry.
