Re: Others with the same name
in reply to a message by Wayne
I'm still praying that someone out there has heard of or knows someone with the first name of "Dykie", it's origin or something about it. My birthday is March 29, 1950 and I was named after a nurse or midwife in Louisa, VA in the USA. It's very important to me to find out about it or the person herself. Please respond if you have any information. Thank you and God Bless.Someone told me it was a Scandinavian name but I'm not sure.

I don't know if this will help, but my Swedish name dictionary lists Dika and Diken as short forms of Fredrika, and also includes Dyveke, which it says is a Danish name based on Dutch words for "little dove." Though I don't think any of those names would actually be pronounced much like "Dykie" in Scandinavia, I can see how someone from Scandinavia with one of those names working in Louisa, Virginia in the 1950s might get Dykie as a nickname.
