Alcander, male, Greek, meaning: 'strong', variants: Alcindor, Alcandor

I found the above on the following website:

When I saw it was Greek, i checked my dictionary and I found the Greek word alkaios meaning 'powerful'. I guess Alcander (which in Greek would be Alkander) might be a contraction of alkaios
