Re: Name Meaning
I'm relatively sure it came into existence as a combination of the sounds Shea (an anglicization of an Irish name meaning "admirable" or "hawklike") and Lee (an English name derived from a word for "meadow"). And there aren't any names that can really be called "American Indian," because there were no names shared across all the tribes and cultures of the continent, of which there are so many, and there is so much lost, that it would be difficult to know if and/or where the name Shalee (well, a name that sounded the same, at least) was used.
