MY name
OK, I've seen it once in these message boards, but I have to ask.
What is the origin and meaning of the name CHEVY?
And, what is the meaning and importance of a middle name?

Chevy as in the name of the comedian Chevy Chase is probably a nickname based on the town of Chevy Chase, Maryland. This was named for an estate which took its name from the Ballad of Chevy Chase, a poem about the Battle of Otterburn in 1388 where "Chevy" is a shortened form of Cheviot, from the Cheviot Hills in England. According to A Dictionary of English Place-Names by A. D. Mills, Cheviot is "a pre-English name of unknown origin and meaning". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ballad_of_Chevy_ChaseI am not exactly sure what you mean by your second question. Middle names developed gradually in English speaking countries over the course of a couple of centuries. They are now so common that everyone is expected to have one. How much personal meaning they have depends on the reasons the parents chose them. They can be highly meaningful, or can merely be throw-away afterthoughts chosen merely for sound and rhythm. You would have to ask the individual parents involved to find out.

Acctualy... Chevy reminds me of the name of a girl in my year 9 class. I think her nick name was "shivi" i remember that her name meant "flower".
There was another girl who's nick name was "chimi". I think her name came from somewhere in the middle east or something. I think her name meant "eve" or something.
The meaning and importance of a middle name???
I guess because there are so many people in the world that heeps of people would have the exact same name and get confused. ie. i once saw this web site of a girl who was around the same name as me and had the same first name and last name. Another random story - my mother had the same name as my school sport captain when I was in Junior School. That made some interesting conversation!
