I recently heard the name Talisa but its not in the database. Im not sure of the orgin or meaning. Does anyone know? Thank you for any suggestions. I really appreciate it :)

Variant of TALITA?

Not very like, I know, that a Greek spelling variation should be applied to an Aramaic name. Just a thought ...

Some evidence

I just accidentally ran into St Barsimäus (on a German Website, therefore the ä) who of course is Bartimaios in Greek. And this sure is an Aramaic name.

The girl's name Talisa is of Spanish origin, and means "noble birth". It's also known to be a combination of the name Talia and Lisa. :)

Please let us know where this information comes from. BTN is a scholarly board, therefore definitions are not considered facts unless they come from reputable sources. However, it does seem likely that it could be a compound/combination use.

Unfortunately, most "baby names" websites are unreliable---they don't use scholarly sources to back up their claims.
