names that mean "thankful"?
Does anyone know of names of European origin that have a meaning like "we give thanks" or "thankful" or "gratitude"? In the database there are African and Arabic names, but none of European origin, except Thankful. Honora and Mireille are similar in meaning...Thanks! :)

Do a search.Go to the top of the page, click meanings, and then enter thankful. See what you get.

Gracia and Grazia are two such names. They means "grace" in Spanish and Italian respectively, but in the plural they mean "thanks". It strikes me that the Swahili word "asante", which means thank you, would make a pretty name, although I've never heard it used as such.

The only names I know meaning "thankful" are Arabic or Hebrew. Jadon is from the Hebrew 'yadown'= thankful but it is used in Europe. John, Joanna, Jane (all the forms of Iohannes)are European forms that stem from Hebrew, meaning 'God is gracious'.
