How norwegians pronounce Kim?
Could someone help me? I'd like to know if norwegians pronounce Kim (male, nameday: 20.03) as the short variant of english Kimberly or like 'Shim'? Because i think they pronounce 'k' before an 'i' like the english 'sh'... Am i right?

Yes, Kim is pronounced with a hard 'k' sound in all of Scandinavia. There is an originally Finnish male name Kimmo, but I don't know if there is or ever has been a connection between Kim and Kimmo, though. Instead, the Scandinavian Kim is often listed as a clipped form of Joakim. You're also right about k being pronounced 'sh' in some environments (but not all!). For example, Kjell is pronounced close to 'shell', while Karin is 'KAR-in'.

I went to a male Chiropractor whose name is Kim Van Der Veer. I thought Kim was either a name for a girl or was an oriental name. I wondered how it was pronounced. You pronounce his name just like it sounds Kim.Sharon

well it's hard to learn, how to use norwegian names (i have same problems with it) but i think kim comes from finnish, which means they pronounce it [k]. it's just an opinion, i'm not sure about it :)

Pre-emptive strike ('cause I'm feelin somewhat misanthropic, today hehe)People with MPD who hold conversations with themselves in public, when caught, always present the same excuse:
"my kid brother/sister/whatever used the same computer, it was not me.."
Please spare us!

Pay no attention. Some regulars on the board are OBSESSED by the idea that some posters are deceiving the populace by posting under several names. Time and again it turns out there's a perfectly reasonable explanation, but that doesn't stop them from coming out with nasty remarks.
(In my case the explanation is NOT reasonable: I'm doing expressly to annoy them)
And I still haven't figured out what the 'danger' is. Are (so-called) MPD's more likely to be wrong, or what?
