looking for answers
Help! I am about to lose a bet. Looking for the meaning and origins of two names: Sinjun and Dempsey. If I can't find something on them in the next 24 hours I have to detail my friends car (and taking it to a shop is not allowed. It's 103 degrees in Dallas right now, too hot for that kind of work!) and treat him to a weekend away! Please have pity on me and find me some kind of answers. Thanks, Shannan

Omigawd! The pressure! The pressure! Okay!"Sinjun"... This is actually "St. John " which, as a name, is pronounced in Great Britain as "Sinjun". The name also appears spelled phonetically as "Sinjon" and "Sinjun". The "meaning" of the name is actually a way in which Roman Catholic families honored St. John the Baptist . For the meaning of the name John (which you probably already know, anyway), simply click on the blue hyperlink."Dempsey" is of Gaelic origin -- it's an anglicized form of "O Diomasaigh" and "Mac Diomasaigh", meaning "descendant of Diomasach" or "descendant of Diomasaigh". Both names are derived from the Gaelic word "diomas", meaning "proud".Now, bow down to me and tell me I'm a goddess for having saved you. :)-- Nanaea

My brother named his baby Cinjun. I was not able to find origin. I've heard of lead singer for Remy Zero's is Cinjun Tate, who was married to Alyssa Milano. Any help tracing origin of name would be appreciated.

You are a GODDESS!!!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. You have truly saved me! Not only did I not want to detail the car, (although the weekend would have been nice...) the very fact that I WON the bet was worth some of the pressure. I am very impressed with the information you have given me. Once again thank you from the bottom of my almost blistered feet.Shannan

You think a bet like that's not pressure? The list of things I'd do to avoid detailing a car outside in Dallas between now and October 1 would rival the Manhattan Yellow Pages in size!! One nasty summer climate!
