I'm desprete for a meaning o my name "LAINE"- the meaning doesn't have to be a long one but just don't tell me it means that I live near a lane. Thanks heaps,

In Amharic (one of the Geez languages in the Horn of Africa), Laine (also spelt Layne) means "for my eyes".

Laine is also Estonian and Finnish for "a wave, comber, ripple" and it is used as a first name, too, although it's rare.

I think the name Laine is lovely, it sounds pretty and sophisticated :-)
