so, I did phone my neighborhood temple and all I get is voice mail.

Hello!Well, it looks like all the synagogues are the same everywhere! It's almost always impossible to talk to someone in my synagogue too :) You should try and go there, for example for the Shabbat office, and talk to the Rabbi after. That way you won't have to wait until someone picks up the phone :)Take care,
