Re: What do this last name mean, UTLEY?
My reference source states that Utley is Northern English -- a habitation name from Yorkshire, near Keighley . It is derived from the Old English personal name "Utta" (of uncertain meaning) and the Old English word "leah" (meaning a meadow or clearing in the woods). So "Utley" essentially means: "One who lived at or came from Utta's meadow".-- Nanaea
