Year1: Conrad Vilhelmi Sandford and Carmen Séraphine Sandford {Charron} have just gotten married. Conrad is 28 and of English and Finnish descent. He has wavy, brown hair and hazel eyes. He works as a freelance artist. Carmen is 27. She was born in Marseilles, but her mother is from Spain. She has curly, black hair and blue eyes. She has just finished her training to become a nurse. The couple currently live together in a small town in Bouches-du-Rhône, France.
Year2: ~ Pet. Carmen is given the unexpected gift of a gecko from a grateful patient who breeds reptiles. An odd gift indeed, but as an animal lover, one she can't resist. Conrad also takes well to the little lizard, whom they name Thessaly.
Year3: ~ Adoption. The two decide to start a family, but decide to try adoption first. Conrad's older brother and sister were both adopted, and since he had a happy home life, he feels like he would like to try to be an adoptive parent too. In the end, they adopt a little girl from Zhezkazgan, Kazakhstan. She is under a year old, born on October 12th, and has wavy dark brown hair and brown eyes. They keep her birth name, Zemfira, but add the middle name Alberta, in honor of her (adopted) uncle Albert. She ends up with the nickname Fira too.
Year4: ~ Vacation. With little Zemfira growing bigger by the day, Conrad and Carmen decide to take a holiday to visit his family in England. Despite the near constant rain, they have a lovely time and Fira is spoilt by her grandparents.
Year5: ~ Job. Carmen is transferred to a bigger hospital in Marseilles. This means working longer hours and a slightly longer commute, but it's an interesting new oppurtunity all the same.
Year6: ~ Adoption. Zemfira is nearly three now, and the Sandfords think it might be nice for her to have a brother or sister. The time doesn't seem right to have a child of their own, but they have more than enough time and space to adopt instead. This time, they decide to adopt identical twin boys from Guatamala. The boys are four years and born on April 17th. They both have wavy black hair and hazel eyes. The transition is made easier by the fact that both Carmen and Connor speak Spanish - Carmen fluently as her second language, and Conrad has picked up some from his wife. Even little Zemfira is beginning to pick up a tiny bit. Besides, as they are so close in age, the three children quickly bond. As before, they keep their first names the same, adding a new middle name and a nickname - Leonardo Tiberius "Leo" and Lisandro Theron "Sander".
Year 7: ~ Birth. Carmen's pregnancy seems to come out of the blue. Fortunately, all of the family are excited to meet the new arrival, a baby boy. He has the same curly, black hair as his mother and brown eyes a little darker than his father's hazel. They name him Gideon Émile.
Year 8: ~ Birth. Another birth! When she finds out her mother is pregnant, Zemfira is pretty vocal in her hope that it's a baby sister. She's in luck - the family welcomes not one baby sister, but identical twin girls. They both have straight brown hair and blue eyes. They name them Zéphyrine Emmanuelle and Camille Geneviève, solid French names in part suggested by friends and family.
Year 9 ~ Pet. Although Thessaly has a been a beloved and loyal little pet gecko all these years, the children soon start begging for something bigger and fluffier. Eventually the parents relent and they get a dog - a fluffy Samoyed puppy. They let the children name him, and so he becomes known as Wolf, or Wolfgang for long.
Year 10 ~ Birth. This time it's another daughter. She has brown hair which is curly like her mother's and hazel eyes. Initially they struggle with a name, but ultimately end up picking Isidora, after the Spanish side of her family, and Terhi, as suggested by her Finnish grandmother.
Year 11 ~ Travel. It's been a while since they've had a family holiday abroad, and when Conrad earns a good salary from a prolific commision, now seems as good a time as any. They decide to go to India for three weeks - Carmen has always dreamed of going there, and it's a great way to show the kids a different culture and way of life, and a distant and new part of the world. They visit all the tourist hotspots as well as a few places of local beauty off the beaten track, and have a wonderful time. Little Isidora is too young, they decide, though, so she stays with her maternal grandparents and gets spoilt alongside Thessaly and Wolf.
Year 12 ~ Receive an award. Conrad wins an award for his artwork. It's payment for a lot of hard work.
Year 13 ~ Birth. Surprise! Another birth. Carmen and Conrad are a bit worried, since they had planned for Isidora to be their last child. Neither of them are getting any younger, after all, and their family is already quite large. Fortunately, both mother and child are healthy and well. It's another girl, too. She has wavy black hair and hazel eyes. They decide to name her Sybille Philomena.
Year 14: ~ Pet. The older children are followed home from school by a stray cat. After much begging and searching for a possible owner, the black and white moggy is welcomed into the family and makes herself at home, quickly establishing dominance over poor Wolf. They name her Bathsheba, because it's a witchy, feline sounding name, apparently.
Year 15: ~ Random, move somewhere new. And so 15 years pass in the Sandford family, just like that. Carmen and Conrad decide their small town and small home have taken them as far as they can go and it's time to move somewhere new. After searching and pondering, they find a nice family home in Nîmes and move there, to continue their family life and begin new adventures.

I decided to have another go. This one's a bit longer.

Year0: Fionn Raphael MacCailín and Kendra Shinju {Yukimura} have just gotten married. Kendra is 28, has straight dark brown hair and hazel eyes and works as an aerospace engineer. Fionn is 30, has wavy blond hair and green eyes and works as an author. He writes sci-fi and horror stories, and short stories for the local newspaper. They live in the US, although Fionn is originally from Ireland and Kendra is of English and Japanese descent. They married in a small ceremony with family and friends, and have just returned from their dream honeymoon travelling around Russia and the former USSR.
Year1: Adoption. The MacCailíns decide to adopt a child from one of the countries they visited last year. They decide on Ukraine, and end up adopting a 3 month year old baby girl. She has straight brown hair and blue eyes. She is originally known as Daryna, but neither Fionn nor Kendra like the name. They decide to change her name - Penelope as a first name, and Zoya, as a second, honouring her Ukrainian heritage.
Year2: Birth. Shortly after Penny is settled in the MacCailín home, Kendra falls pregnant. Neither parent is too worried about this - they still have plenty of time for Penelope, plus, with the age difference so small, the kids are sure to grow up to be close. Their new arrival is a daughter, with wavy blond hair and green eyes like her father. They decide to name her Eithne, a typical Irish name, and Thalia, after her maternal grandmother.
Year3: Random - adopt a child. With their little family happy and comfortable, the MacCailíns decide to keep adding to their numbers. This time they decide to adopt a 1 year old girl from Columbia. She has wavy brown hair and blue eyes. Her birth name is Azucena, which they decide to keep. She quickly gains the nickname Cen. As a middle name this time, Kendra wants to use a Japanese name. They agree on the name: Azucena Koharu.
Year4: Family event - Volunteer somewhere. Fionn starts volunteering at the local animal shelter.
Year5: Job. Fionn decides to take up a job at the newspaper he writes short stories for, reporting on local events. This acts as a second job to his author career. After a rocky start, he discovers a passion for reporting.
Year6: Family event - adopt a child. Kendra and Fionn decide to adopt once again. This time it's from Vietnam, identical 2 year old girls with straight black hair and hazel eyes. They keep their birth names Lillian Xuân Yên and Marcelline Liên Nhung. The three older daughters are excited to meet their little sisters and in turn they adapt well.
Year7: Family event - take a vacation. The family visit friends in Dublin, Ireland. The weather is bad but they enjoy their holiday.
Year8: Birth. Fionn and Kendra welcome their second biological child. Or rather, children. It's multiples - octoplets. Merciful heavens! Octoplets are so rare that they get a lot of local press attention. Plus, babies two and six nearly don't make it, sadly. Little baby six seems doomed to a life of ill health, but also seems to be the rowdy big personality of the bunch from an early age. They have names from a range of origins, and are, in birth order: Gwendolyn Masami. She has wavy black hair and hazel eyes. Wilhelmina Natsuki. She has straight brown hair and brown eyes. Harry Yoshiro, who has wavy brown hair and green eyes. Miranda Isibéal has curly brown hair and brown eyes. Then there's Dorian Malachy, who has straight dark blond/brown hair and blue eyes. Following is the little character, Oscar Samuel. He has red-brown hair and green eyes. Oscar's little sister is called Rosamund Kazue. She has straight black hair and blue eyes. And the eighth is little Octavia Melusine. She has wavy, brown hair and brown eyes. All in all, it's a lot of new mouths to feed and the family is a little swamped.
