Two years later, and still no sign of Obsidian in the streets.
Knowing her beat was well taken care of by her friends, Eira was less reluctant to stay at home. While Mal still curbed the underworld in his villainous guise, they had agreed that Eira would stay home to take care of Evey, not just because of the risk it would bring to both of them should she return to being Obsidian, but also to make sure they won't miss their precious dughter's moments. Still, Eira never had to say that she missed her vigilante life; it was one of those things they all knew even without saying.
But just as Eira was carrying their second child, something big happened. A wannabe supervillain called Crimson Queen attacked a local bank, holding it at the tip of her claws for ransom. It didn't take long before Paradox's voice hacked the bank intercom to deliver a strongly-worded warning to her about turf rules, but when Mal arrived to interrupt the scene, Crimson Queen had claimed a few victims with her venomous claws. Mal managed to take her down by tricking her into thinking an incoming SWAT team was her ransom money being brought, but even illusions can only do so much; it certainly couldn't return the dead, for one thing.
Three months later, Mal and Eira welcomed Stephen into their family. Stephen's mother, a single parent, was the first person Crimson Queen had killed with her toxic claws, and with the child left alone with the very real possibility of being tossed around foster homes, Mal and Eira agreed to adopt him instead. And not long after Stephen's officially becoming part of their family, Eira gave birth to a healthy baby girl, Grace.
