Melanie and Nina were born in a small village outside of Prague, Czech Republic. Their parents owned a restaurant but were both killed in a car accident. They lived with their great aunt for a couple of years, she died a couple of months ago. After that they moved to Prague and stayed with Melanie's boyfriend until the state tracked them down. After they were removed from the home, Melanie found out she is pregnant. When the girls grow up they plan on opening a Czech restaurant together in Chicago.
