Julius Romanescu
Felix was three, Xavier four, and Nico seven when the parents found out they were expecting a fourth child. They all crossed their fingers for a girl, but Julius arrived and no one seemed to mind that he wasn't. They were far more concerned with the immediate medical care he had to receive. Jules couldn't breathe and had to be put on respirators until his lungs were stronger. He was thinner than their other boys had been, lighter skinned, and with a few different features that seemed to quickly mark him as being different. James found Steven holding tiny Julius and apologizing one night in the NICU. "I wouldn't have cared if you were his. It doesn't matter. I just want you to be healthy and come home with us," he was saying and James had to assure him things would be okay and stood here massaging his shoulders and until they had to put Jules back in his tiny incubator to leave for the night. Everyone was ecstatic when they finally got to bring him home. He seemed to be slower to learn and grow than the other boys had been, but Jules was a happy baby and after a while, his parents all learned to breathe easier about him. They didn't discuss having any more children. It wasn't a definite no, but they weren't exactly ready to jump back into another ordeal like the one they had just had either.
