Charlie and Violet have been together since they were 17, and got married last year! Charlie is a nurse from England, and Violet was born in Nigeria, where she lived until she was 3, before moving to the UK. She runs a small business, selling home-made jewellery. They live in a flat in Fremantle, Australia.
Year 1 (2018) - New pet - dog
Although they want a family, Charlie and Violet don't feel ready for kids, and so adopt a golden retriever puppy called Aqua! She's a fun, lively addition to the Brookshire family.
Year 2 (2019) - Random - attend an important event
The hospital Charlie works at has been building a new wing, and it finally opens in July 2019. Charlie and Violet are invited to attend the official opening ceremony. They have a blast, and make several new friends!
Year 3 (2020) - Family - family vacation
Charlie and Violet leave Aqua in the capable hands of Charlie's coworker, and head off to Thailand for 2 weeks. It's a pretty eye-opening experience, but also a much-needed break, and they're both very glad they took the time away from work to relax.
Year 4 (2021) - Random - unexpected pregnancy
A few weeks after they return from Thailand, Violet begins to feel a little queasy. She's worried that she's caught something, but both she and Charlie are delighted to discover that she's pregnant! And so, in 2021, they welcome a baby girl:

Although they're pretty busy with Bella, Charlie and Violet begin to talk about adopting a child. After an appeal on television, they decide to adopt internationally, and so welcome a little boy from Thailand, giving him their surname.

Year 6 (2023) - Family - death outside immediate family
In 2023, Violet's parents both die. Her mother had been very ill for quite some time, and her death was expected, but her father's sudden death in a car crash leaves Violet shaken. Charlie takes some time off work to help her with the arrangements and take care of the kids while their mother grieves.
Year 7 (2024) - Family - someone gets injured permanently
3-year-old Bella's an excitable, adventurous kid who's always on the move. She injures herself after jumping from a trampoline, and as a result can no longer move from the waist down. The young family struggle to cope with the change in their lifestyle, but they're adaptable and get through.
Year 8 (2025) - Adoption
Life's been difficult for the Brookshires, but when an appeal from Charlie's hospital touches them all, they decide to adopt internationally again, this time from Violet's native Nigeria.

Charlie's been very busy at home, and somewhat unable to focus on his career. As such, he's fired. He hastily finds temporary employment as a waiter at a local restaurant.
Year 11 (2028) - Family - divorce
Violet's really not happy about Charlie losing his job. She wants what's best for the children, and this marriage doesn't seem to be the thing. However, for the kids' sake, especially Bella, Charlie and Violet remain fairly friendly, and share custody. Charlie moves out.
