[Although with both Irish and Scottish heritage, Lorna grew up in England. From the age of 12 she knew she wanted to be a teacher and work with children but it wasn't until she was 20 that we realised she also wanted to see the world just as much.
Quin was raised in Wales by his local dad and English mum. He actually wanted to be an actor from a very young age but got into woodwork in his early 20s and started pursuing it as a career.
The pair met when Quin came to England for a weekend to celebrate his cousin's 21st birthday and Lorna was at the party. The pair hit it off. Although he went back to Wales they kept in touch and after meeting a few more times embarked on a long distance relationship. Just a few short months later, Lorna announced she wanted to see the world, she'd got a job with an organisation teaching disadvantaged kids in Nepal. Quin decided to follow her, putting his building skills to good work by helping expand the school and build homes.
We join them as they mark their 2 years in Nepal.]

Yr1: With 2 years under their belt in Nepal, Lorna and Quin decide it's time to move on to pastures new - they did want to see the world, after all. Lorna gets a job in a South African International School and, being highly skilled in a transferable skill, Quin easily manages to follow, finding a job within days of landing in the new country.

Yr2: Quin's boss turned out to be a pig! So with his head held high, he tells the man where to shove his job and for the meantime the young couple live off Lorna's teaching wage.

Yr3: Lorna and Quin attend an important sponsor event at the International School and after some unintended schmoozing, Quin bags himself a contract to commission some unique pieces of artwork for the new reception.

Yr4: Although not ready to move out of South Africa, Lorna and Quin still want to see more of the world so use their 3 month vacation to roadtrip around Africa, visiting Namibia, Botswana, Angola, DR Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Swaziland and Lesotho.
"Lorna (28) and Quin (29) in South Africa."
Yr5: A family grateful to Quin for helping them rebuild their outbuilding for no charge gives the couple two chickens. Lorna and Quin name their unexpected pets, Mimi and Fred, and decide to keep them for their eggs (not meat).

Yr6: Lorna and Quin are thrilled to announce the arrival of their first child, Parker Marshall Hanley who has straight hair like daddy but the rich, dark red colour from his mummy and greeny-blue eyes from both!

Yr7: Lorna finds a living lizard one day in Parker's cot and freaks out, throwing it out. A few hours later he's in the kitchen, she looses him trying to catch him but later that day he's back in Parker's nursery. A few days of this occurring, Lorna gives up, starts putting out dried food for him and names him Larry.
"Lorna (31) and Quin (32) with Parker (1); Larry (?), Mimi & Fred (4), in South Africa."
Yr8: Lorna thinks she may as well give up and start a zoo as Quin comes home with "Solomon" a Eclectus parrot that a client gave him.
"Lorna (32) and Quin (33) with Parker (2); Solly (4), Larry (?), Mimi & Fred (5), in South Africa."
Yr9: With commissioned business slow, Quin's shed is getting more and more full of his "trial" pieces so Lorna suggests he starts a business to sell them. It's 'Hanleys Hardwood' and since Quin's already built up a good reputation of a craftsmen his pieces go quickly and he's getting commissions again in no time!
"Lorna (33) and Quin (34) with Parker (3); Solly (5), Larry (?), Mimi & Fred (6), in South Africa."
Yr10: Lorna's long term goal to lead English as a subject across a school is accomplished as she's promoted this year!

Yr15: Just as the 'zoo' had calmed down - welcome Rora - a Brown House Snake. You can just imagine Lorna's face...

Yr16: Just before Parker starts school, Lorna and Quin have a heart to heart and decide it's time to go home... To Britain. Lorna secures a job in a prestigious private school before moving and Quin is offered a managerial job at a carpenting firm. With regret, Lorna and Quin give away their extensive collection of pets to friends and neighbours.

Yr17: At their mature age, Lorna and Quin thought more children was wiped from the agenda so imagine their surprise when Lorna discovers she's pregnant! Parker is so excited so have a brother. Welcome Bellamy Maxfield with curly hair like mummy and strawberry-blonde hair like his daddy, unlike his parents and brother, Bell has snowy grey eyes.
"Lorna (37) and Quin (38) with Parker (7) and Bellamy (nb) in England."
