I am looking for the meaning or origin of my great-grandfather's middle name. It was Obadier. So far I have not found it in any database. He lived from 1851-1931. Where could this name have come from? Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like a variation of Obadiah
OBADIAH (m) "servant of YAHWEH" (Hebrew). This was the name of one of the minor prophets in the Old Testament.

Thank you guys so much. It is quite possible. They lived in rural settings. Education was not that important to farm families of that time period. That is quite possible.
