Czech. The"i" is long and there's a "hacek" over "e" (looks like small v). It'pronounced something like [mnieseec].

another question concerning this community in its wholedo you consider this site for only human names or can they be for others too? i have already named several of my characters using nyx, acacia, fay, vespera, cavan, jarrett, and more. they are all animals... wolves, lions, turtles even.it would be nice if it werent limited to humans only. i know horikia would not make quite a usual human name but i like it. it means winter darkness. and others like acerbus, mesic, equitas, askari, korosten...

No, not just for humans...No, this site isn't just for the names of human beings. Our Glorious Leader, Mike C., explains it this way:http://www.behindthename.com/messages/17236.htmlProvided the name has an interesting meaning and history, it may eventually wind up on this site. This isn't a baby names site. It's a *names* site.-- Nanaea
