unlisted name
My name is Tiona pronounced (Te-O-na). I am a female with an ethnic background of mexican and black. I really don't know much of my name due to me being adopted. I can never seem to find my name anywhere. Can you please try to help me find the meaning of my name? Everyone tells me I have an unusual name they have never heard it before, I guess it's true since I can't seem to find it listed anywhere.

TIONA - we have the answer to your question: tiona was originally spelled thyona and it is a greek name from a greek myth about a beautiful queen and she started having an affair with zeus. then hera found out and got pissed off and sent Tiona to Hades. But Zeus and tiona had a child, Dionysus, and he rescued Tiona from Hades and he changed her appearence so the name is a sign of new life and purity.

Maybe its distantly related to the similarly-sounding name Thenone, meaning's "God's nymph" :)

Possible answer...I don't know if this is where your name comes from, but there is a Hebrew name "Tivona" which means 'nature lover'. And on a side note- I think it'd be kinda cool to be named "God's nymph". Then again, I'm a little odd. :)

I did a tiny bit of looking quickly... Is it possible you could have been named after a town? There is a Tiona, Pennsylvania
51 miles from Erie, Pennsylvania.... Just a thought!
