I am joining the SCA. for those of you who don't know what that is it is basically a group of people who live their lives as they did in periods before the 18th century. This is just a hobby done in the spare time of our mundane lives. in order to do this I need a name that would be period (appropriate to that time that is). if any of you ahve any names that u think would suit a female who is 16 and wishes to have a scottish/irish/gaelic name that would be great.

Niamh (prounced NEEV or NEE-uh) is very nice. It's a very old Irish name, but still used.
Or Argantlon (ar-GAHNT-lon). This is a Breton name (from Brittany, wich was/partly still is inhabited by Celts).

The SCA has a website devoted to period names.

Try also http://www.panix.com/~mittle/names/Here are some links to Irish and Scottish names. There are many more at the above websites.

I usually go by the meanings of names, aswell as the langauge/heritage they are from.
If you would like a website to look at for Irish names, I would suggest one that is linked to this website: http://www.namenerds.com/irish
They've got LOADS of Irish names, and also links to more name sites. I've found many names for characters in stories at that site.
God bless,
MCW
