The thing I like about tackling questions on here is that ya always learn something in the process.
I thought the name "Parran" sounded like it might hail from Cornwall (Celtic southwest England), so I checked a Cornish name site. Sure enough, Parran is Cornish, after St. Parin, an Irish saint of the 500-600s who came to Cornwall and became the patron saint of tin miners and workers, as well as the most prominent saint of the whole area. His feast day (usually date of death) is March 5, still very actively celebrated. Unfortunately, I didn't see the name's meaning in the brief number of sites I visited.
Plug in "Saint Parin" on www.google.com to find sites that give many more details.
Cornish names in general are pretty cool and this one has great connections! I wouldn't hesitate to use it for a child. Good luck!
