Only in that case it's spelled "mandolin". I got introduced to the instrument as a young kid in the hospital by a Golden Book retelling of "Rapunzel", wherein Rapunzel played the mandolin while getting her hair brushed by her foster-mother (better known as the witch).Pictures of mandolins: http://snipurl.com/df8t.
