Looking for "correct" pronunciation for name Aloysia help please.
I was wondering if anyone knows the traditional "correct" pronunciation for the name Aloysia. It is the feminine form of the name Aloysius so one would think that it is pronouncedah-uh-WISH-ee-ahBut I have also heard al-oh-WEES-ee-ah, uh-LOY-shuh and al-uh-WIZH-ee-uh.Anyone know which is correct??Thanks.

If it's the feminine of Aloysius, I would assume it's the first one.

Thanks everyone I think we are going to go with the pronunciation al-oh-WEES-ee-ahIt does seem to be a name with quite a few pronunciation possiblities so I guess we just pick one that we like. When I first saw the name I thought al-oh-WEES-ee-ah.

Well, BtN says Aloysius is pronounced al-o-WISH-us. So, Aloysia would be al-o-WISH-a.But BtN probably put just one of many pronunciations for Aloysius. So, yeah, Aloysia would also have many pronunciations.

It depends on the country and the accent. In France, it is ah-loh-ee-zyah.
