Re: looking for..
Thanks. I'm really not about unusual names. I was hoping for something remotely common.
And I don't understand why names from LOTR were added to the database. I thought this was the site about "real names" and their "real meanings". Maybe someone can help me understand?
(I'm not against using these as names, nor am I against "made up names", I just don't understand why some patrons of this site will make comments that certain names look "made up" if you're going to use names from a language made up for a work of fiction)

Um... Because some LotR names are used as real given names. Also, the names are derived from a legitimate (albeit invented) language, and have real etymological meanings.Tolkien was a linguist, and he invented Sindarin, Quenya, etc. according to pre-existing laws that "real" languages follow. They're in every way a "real" language, aside from the fact that they were artificially invented in the 20th century by one person.
