carson for a boy?
We love the name Carson for a boy. We are afraid it might migrate to the girls' side. Any feedback/advice?

Carson, Scandinavian for "son of Carr". Many Scandinavian names are simuliar, Johnson, "son of John"... Traceing Scandinavian names is dificult. People took last names relative to where they lived or what farm they lived on. If they moved they would take on the name of the place they moved to.

any name with the word -son in it should NEVER be used on a girl

Its a cute name! Carson reminds me of Carson Daly, some MTV hosts or whatever. Now that you think of it, Carson could very well, 'migrate' over to the girl's side. all some one would have to do is change the 'c' to a 'k' and there you go, Karson. Its kind of like Riley, and all the other ones that 'migrated' to the other side! 'Migrate' a GREAT term for it! i wish i thought of it!!!

Definitly male. After all, it ends in '-son'. The site says it has an unknown meaning, but it sound like it's maybe something like Carlson changing to Carson.

Carson is definitely more masculine than feminine.
It doesn't suit a girl at all.

I think it's a cute boy name! I wouldn't think of using it as a girl name.
