question about a gaelic? name

this guy i worked witha few yrs ago had a mn i'd never heard of, im not sure of the correct spelling, he said it was gaelic i think, i could wrong. the name kinda looked like Megher?? pron. kinda like mey-her. if anybody has any idea as to what name i might be trying to remeber and know what it may mean, i would appreiciate it. thanks

I know a guy with the last name "Meagher", which he pronounces "Mare" (like Mary without the Y.) No clue what it means, though it definitely looks gaelic, and it's probably the name you're thinking of.

ok sorry, i dont usually post on this board, i remember the spelling didnt sound as it looked cause he asked us to guess how it was pronouced.
