I am not sure what you mean. According to Hanks & Hodge's A Dictionary of First Names, the Scottish Gaelic form of Daniel is Dàniel. In Ireland, Daniel has been itself used as an "English" substitute for Domhnall, the original Gaelic form of Donald.

I would like to thank everyone who responded. I had looked at the possibilty of DONALD and met a dead end. I was also told that DAVID was another possible variation which I`ve tried to no avail.Thank you Cleveland for the links.Honorah
