???
I have recently asked about the name Aidric. Now I have a question on its usage. Was the name Aidric or even Aldric (any name Aidric derived from) commonly used during the Medieval times? I was told this name belonged to a Medieval saint. I was just curious if back then this name was commonly used? If it was not commonly used back then was atleast known of? Or was its only usage belong to the Saint?Thank you to anyone who has any information for me :)___________________________________________________________Our 3 year wedding anniversaryDaisypath Ticker

I'm not sure the Aidric in that form goes back to medieval times, but Aldric or variations of it were certainly in common use in England then. We know that because there are many English surnames based on Aldric -- Aldrich, Aldrick, Alldred, Alldridge, Allderidge, Elderidge, Eldridge, Eldrick, and Oldridge, according to Reaney & Wilson's A Dictionary of English Surnames. All of these surnames would go back to the family having an ancestor named Aldric or some variation of it in medieval England.
