Origins of WARREN,and GRENFELL
I live in Hamilton,Ontario,CANADA. I was born and raised in NEWFOUNDLAND,CANADA. I am 55 years old;married;3 daughters. I know of only one other GRENFELL as a first name. The only other time I knew of GRENFELL (as a Last name),was Dr.Sir Wilfred GRENFELL,who came over to Newfoundland from England in the first half of the twentieth century, where he established a hospital at St. Anthony. The surname WARREN is a very popular one in Newfoundland, and, indeed, throughout Canada, and the U.S. Where are the origins of these two names ? Thank you for ANY information.

Grenfell is a variant of Grenville meaning "grain town" or possibly "grand town".
Warren means enclosure (as in rabbit warren) but may also mean "from La Varenne, in France".
