I came across the name Meara in a book. The book claims that Meara is Irish and means mirthful. I've never heard of it, does anyone know how it's pronounced?

I'm not really sure. I like the spelling of it, and I think (think, because I can't find the name) it's pronounced Mah-ra or Mehr-a. I think Mehr-a more than Mah-ra. That's just my opinion, though. I hope that was somewhat helpful :)

Ah, and from what I could find on the Googlie, Maera is mostly used as a surname.
