I am not sure, but if this poster is the same one who posted as James, he said Anneza was his girlfreinds name so obviously the name has another origin other than the one you gave :)http://www.behindthename.com/bb/arcview.php?id=333207&board=gen

Well, if I could invent it, so could her parents, I suppose, or whoever it was that named her.I'm always amazed at people giving a name first and searching for its meaning afterwards ... sometimes years afterwards. If you're interested in meanings in the first place, or even mildly aware of how languages work, wouldn't you be reluctant to choose a set of sounds that are already used for drain cleaner, a bluegrass band or, ahem!, an intimate body function?Once I taught a Chinese boy who needed an English name when his family changed countries. His brother was Chou, so he became Joe ... but my guy paged through the dictionary pretty well at random, found the word Fen and liked it. So Fen became his English name ... which everyone assumed was a Chinese name ... and I was always relieved that his quest for a single-syllable English word hadn't taken him further down the letter F!

Its strange but every pregnant woman I know has at least leafed through one of those baby name books when looking for a name but many still go for the unusual name they heard on tv yet dont know what it means
Of corse some names are given to honour a family member or freind so the meaning might not be quite so important to the person chosing a particular name , looking back in my family tree and talking with others who have done so, I have found that weird and wonderful spellings and made up looking names are nothing newA childs smile is worth more to me than Gold

It is most likely a form of Anne or possibly Annis
Where did you see this name
Do you have any idea where it might have originated ie is the person you saw with this name of a particular ethnic background or was it a name you saw mentioned in fictionA childs smile is worth more to me than Gold
