Hello,
Would anybody know the origin of the name "Athieng", including its meaning?
This was the name given to young Somali girl I know.
The closest I could come to was that it might possibly mean "grey and brown", though I don't know why, nor can I confirm this.

Are you sure this girl was Somali?
I can find many references to girls and women named Athieng through Google, but so far they are all from southern Sudan, not from Somalia. I would also assume that most Somali girls would have Islamic given names ultimately derived from Arabic, and Athieng certainly does not look like such a name to me.
