Non-name Ancestrial Problem
This doesn't directly involve names but...
I knew for most of my lift I was Austrian, Scottish, Irish and French but all emphasis has been put on my scottish heritage. Only when I was like 14 or so did I find out I was native too. My mother doesn't seem very proud of this, so she didn't tell me. Back when my parents were growing up, they lived much more north in Ontario, and appearently the general native population tended to have problems with alcohol, limited education, and many just stayed on welfare. So now I want to know about my native heritage, but I don't even know what tribe I'm from. I have been trying to get maps of tribes, but they are all different, and most are so bad I can't read them. According to one I'm Ojibwe, another I'm Huron, and another I'm Algonquin. My great grandfather was Native and lived in Timmins Ont. around the late 1800's... any idea what tribe is based in that area?
I feel like I'm missing part of my history, and when I have children I want to have all their culture taught to them, and I want to give them middlenames to reflect their diverse heritage. Thanks for any help~SD

I would guess you're Ojibwe or maybe Cree.

I thought there were many Cree in Hudson Bay territory?

YepYep the Cree are in the Hudson Bay area, which is northren Ontario and manitoba. My great grandfather was from central ontario, like above the peninsula. Timmins is near Lake Superior I think. Too South for Cree.~SD

Wow!Do you want to give your children Austrian, Scottish, Irish, French and Native American middle names? That will be long names...Satu

lol, not quiteWell I have been with the same guy for 3 years, and we've known each other four years. We hope to get married someday, right now I am only 18 and he's 17 so its out of the question. His background is german, scottish, and irish. So, Austrian is just German, it's easy to get irish names with gaelic meanings, but heres the idea...I like the name Brigitte - it's the german and french version of a irish and scottish name (with a beautiful meaning i may add). So that takes care of 5 of our ancestries right there.
She would only need a native american name and she would have it all.
That's the idea ^_^~SD

I am a little Sanskrit from forever ago....I wanted the same thing for my children..I named my daughetr Charlijet..I think I had heard it from a while ago, but maybe I misunderstood, because no one has heard of it. I think it's really pretty. My name is Mackenshaya after my Great (of some sort) Grandma

this has nothing to do with your question but you could give your future daughter kateri as a middle name. it's after kateri tekakwitha who was baptized as a catholic way back in the 1670s
