Despite the fact that you need to go to the opinions board to seek advice, I'll happily give you some.
Have you considered an alternative spelling to Bethany, such as Bethani or Bethanee? If that's not original enough, what about Carinda Marie or something like that? (for a girl of course)
For a boy, try something original that sounds earthy but strong. Jorhan (alternative to Jordan), Cobalt and Stephansen are suggestions.
