LESTAT

I read in an Anne Rice interview that the name LESTAT was the outcome of a spelling mistake: she wanted to name the character LESTAN after her husband, Stan, but she misspelled it, and so it became Lestat.

(He's my fave as well!!)

"Lestat is not just another French name. Lestat de Lioncourt is the fictional vampire in Anne Rice's *Vampire Chronicles*.

Rice probably concocted the name from the Old French "l'estat" meaning "status, state or condition of life".

Yo estoy de acuerdo con Pavlos. Tal parece que literalmente, lo que quiso representar Anne Rice con su personaje Lestat, es una paradoja, una metáfora del vocablo francés "l'stat" que significa " status, condición de vida"
