To justify the feminine usage of "Kellan," I've seen it as varient of "Keelin" when translating "Caoilfhionn" (slender-fair) into English.
"Renny" or "Rennie" is almost certainly derived from "Reynold/Ronald/Ranald," especially considering that both these full-names and short-forms are more common in Scotland. I've seen it equated in Irish to "Reannach" (for 'pointed' or 'starry'), along with "Rene," but this is naturally suspect (though maybe in Ulster/Donegal).
