Re: Jesharelah
in reply to a message by ADT
Jesharelah is an English version of an Old Testament Biblical name, found only in Chapter 25, verse 14 of I Chronicles. It is the form of this name used in the King James version and some other translations. More modern translations often use the form Jesarelah. The same man is also called Asarelah in other verses. The name is of a man in the Bible, but I can see how someone would think it would work better as a female name in a modern English speaking context. There are several places on the Web where it's claimed the name meant "right with God" or "right towards God" in Hebrew, but I'm not sure how accurate that is.

I looked the name up in Strong's Hebrew Dictionary, and it does mean "right towards God".
